Hope For The Nation

Let me ask you something. Do you think the election was stolen? We’ve heard so much, over the last few years, about how many people think the 2020 Presidential election was stolen, and how the current President is not the rightful President. I’ve listened to evangelists who said that God told them he gave the anointing of President to the former President, and how the current President is an impostor. Some people will bet the farm that it is true, and others think it is total lunacy. What is the truth though? I mean, if it is like so many people are saying, that God wanted someone else to win the 2020 elections, then why didn’t they win? Does God even get involved in elections? This also brings up the question, is it possible to overturn the will of God? Let’s look at what scripture says.

Can God’s Plan Be Stopped?

Proverbs 19:21 says, “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.”

What does this mean? It means that no one can stop God’s plan. God has a plan, and it will come to pass. Nothing, and no one can stop it. We can make all of the plans we want, but if they are not within the will of God, they will not come to pass. God’s will always will prevail.

God Has A Plan

God spoke the universe into existence. He is all knowing, and all seeing. In the beginning, God was here. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. God has a plan for each of us. He has a plan for our city, our state, our country, and our world. We may not understand his plan, but like it says in Proverbs 3:5 we are to trust God, and not depend on our own understanding, meaning that we may not understand what God is doing, but to just trust him. It goes on to say in verse 6, “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Are Bad Things Part of God’s Will?

When bad things happen, is it still part of God’s will? Here’s my take on it. First let me say that God does not cause bad things to happen to anyone, and he loves us more than we could ever imagine. So much that he sent his only son to die in our place that we might be reconciled with him. Remember though, that we live in a fallen world, where bad things will happen, and we must remember, this world is not the end.

More In Store For Those Who Believe

God has more in store for those who put their faith in his son Jesus Christ. If God, who knows everything that will happen, allows something to happen, even something tragic, God uses it for an ultimate good. With so many tragic things that happen in our world, that can be a hard pill to swallow, but sometimes you have to just trust God, like when we just looked at Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” Or, like it says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

But If It Is Of God…

Another verse that comes to my mind is Acts 5:39. “But if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it-lest you even be found to fight against God.” The Apostles had been arrested by the high priest, and his officials, who were Sadducees, and were put in jail. An angel came that night though, let them out, and told them to go to the Temple and give the people, “this message of life,” and the Apostles did just that. When the high priest and his officials arrived, they sent the Temple guards for the Apostles to be brought from the jail for trial, but found that the Apostles were gone.

Confusion At The Jail

They were all confused because the jail was securely locked, and there were guards standing outside, but when they opened the gates, no one was there. Then someone came and told them that the Apostles were at the Temple, teaching the people. So they went and arrested the Apostles and brought them before the high counsel, and the high priest told them that he had given them strict orders never again to preach in “that man’s” name. Meaning Jesus. Peter and the apostles basically said that they had to obey God, over people, and gave them a summary of how Christ rose from the dead after he died on the cross, and was now seated at the right hand of God, and that this was done so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven. They went on to say that they were witnesses to this, as was the Holy Spirit, “who is given by God to those who obey him.”

The High Counsel Was Mad!

The high counsel was furious when they heard this and decided to kill them. One Pharisee though, named Gamaliel, ordered the apostles to be sent outside of the counsel chamber. He then basically told the counsel to be careful what they were planning to do. He brought up a man named Theudas who had pretended to be someone great. He had about 400 followers, but he was killed and his followers scattered. He then brought up a man named Judas of Galilee, not Judas Iscariot, where the same thing happened. He then advised the counsel to leave the men alone, because if what they were doing was on their own, it would soon be overthrown, but if it is of God, they wouldn’t be able to stop it, lest they find themselves trying to fight against God. In other words, you can’t stop a move of God.

Nothing Can Stop God’s Plan

Isaiah 14:27 says, “Nothing can stop God’s plan for your life.” See, there are a number of scriptures that are saying that it is impossible to overturn the will of God. impossible! So were the 2020 elections stolen? Well, there has been no proof of any wide spread fraud, but that does not even matter. What matters is regardless of what anyone may think, or want, or wish, the person in the White House, is the person God allowed to be in the White House, and that person is in the White House because of the will of God.

One More Thing

Another thing. No matter where your political allegiance lies, be it right, left, or somewhere in between, everyone is concerned about the direction our country is going, or not going. I don’t think the country has been more divided in my lifetime than it is right now, even among Christians. In 2 Chronicles 7, the Temple was being dedicated, and burnt offerings and sacrifices had been offered to the Lord. The people of Israel were worshiping God after fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offerings, and sacrifices. The glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests couldn’t even enter the temple, because the glory of the Lord filled it.

The Lord Appeared To King Solomon

Jumping ahead a little, the Lord appeared to King Solomon. What God said in verse 14 to Solomon, was regarding Israel, and the consecration of the temple, but I think we can apply it today. Verse 14 says, “If my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. I think that says it all.

The Hope For Our Nation

The hope for our nation? It’s in God, and God alone. Not in any person who comes along and says they can rescue the country. It’s in God. We need to be prayerful about the people God calls into leadership, and also pray that God’s will for our country, whatever it is, will be done. ‘Nuff said.
